Synbio Power Pitch 2021 is a pitching competition organized by Synbio Powerhouse and VTT to find innovative ways to use biological side streams and waste streams into added-value products, using the tools of synthetic biology, AI, machine learning and biotechnology.

The Synbio Power Pitch 2021 call gathered 35 applications from all over the world. Entries came from Finland, Uganda, Rwanda, Australia, Germany, Indonesia, Ethiopia, Brazil, USA, The Netherlands, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Ethiopia, India, Italy, Latvia, Indonesia and Singapore. Sixteen teams have now passed to the semi-finals.

In this competition, the semi-finalists will receive valuable mentoring and feedback from our expert collaborators and partners. All participating ideas will also gain visibility among investors, our industry partners and our research collaborators in academia and research institutions. The participation in the competition also includes access to wet lab mentoring and lab space in Espoo, Finland.

Based on the refined pitches, finalists will be selected by our expert jury. The finals will be held during Slush 2021 and the award is 5,000 euros.
